Moraira’s Andalusian Market Returns for a Weekend of Colour, Culture and Celebration

This weekend, the heart of Moraira will once again be transformed into a vibrant scene from another era as the annual Andalusian Market returns from 19 to 21 June. Taking place in Plaza de la Sort and the surrounding streets, the event forms part of the town’s popular Moros y Cristianos celebrations and promises three days of entertainment, culture and family fun.

One of the most anticipated events on the local calendar, the Andalusian Market recreates the atmosphere of a traditional medieval marketplace, bringing together artisan crafts, street performers, musicians, dancers and food stalls in a colourful celebration of the region’s Moorish heritage.

Visitors can wander through streets lined with handcrafted goods, discover traditional trades and sample a wide variety of local and Andalusian cuisine. The aroma of freshly prepared food fills the air while musicians, dancers and performers create a lively atmosphere throughout the day and into the evening.

The market officially opens on Friday evening with a spectacular inaugural parade featuring stilt walkers, musicians, dancers, knights and a fakir. Throughout the weekend, visitors can enjoy a packed programme of activities including live music, Arabic dance performances, medieval demonstrations, archery workshops, children’s games, storytelling, puppet shows and dramatic knight battles between Moorish and Christian warriors.
